The Garden

As Kosu stepped into the garden, he was greeted by a surreal landscape that seemed to blend beauty with an unsettling aura.

The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery light over the scene, illuminating the vibrant hues of the flowers that thrived despite the manor's dark history. The garden was an intricate maze of winding paths, bordered by meticulously trimmed hedges and ancient stone walls that whispered tales of the past.

Delicate blossoms in shades of crimson, violet, and gold danced in the gentle breeze, their sweet fragrance mingling with the cool night air.

Yet, beneath the allure, there was a palpable tension, as if the very earth held its breath. In the center of the garden stood a grand fountain, its once-pristine marble now weathered and cracked, with water trickling down in a soft murmur.

The sound was soothing, yet it felt almost tainted, echoing the eerie screams that had haunted Kosu moments before.

The water shimmered under the moonlight, reflecting the stars like a thousand tiny diamonds scattered across the surface. As Kosu moved deeper into the garden, he noticed patches of shadow that seemed to pulse with an unnatural energy.

Some corners remained untouched by the moonlight, cloaked in darkness that felt alive, as if lurking creatures were waiting just beyond sight.

The air grew thick with anticipation, and Kosu could sense the garden's dual nature—both a sanctuary of beauty and a realm of lurking danger.Old trees, their gnarled branches reaching out like skeletal fingers, stood sentinel around the periphery, their trunks thick with age and wisdom.

Each rustle of leaves carried an undertone of secrets, hinting at the history entwined with the Valet family and their mysterious disappearance. At the far end of the garden, Kosu spotted a dilapidated gazebo, its once-elegant structure now overrun with creeping vines and wildflowers.

It seemed to beckon him closer, a remnant of the garden's former glory.

As he approached, the air grew colder, and a shiver ran down his spine—a reminder that the garden, like the manor, was not just a place of beauty but also a keeper of dark secrets.Despite the enchanting scenery, Kosu remained on high alert, aware that the garden's charm was laced with peril.

Each step echoed in the stillness, and he knew he had to tread carefully as he sought a way out, unraveling the mysteries that lay hidden within the shadows. The garden sprawled before Kosu like a tangled web, a vast maze of overgrown flora and winding paths that twisted and turned unpredictably.

It was clear that the Duke had designed this place with both beauty and defense in mind, creating a labyrinth intended to confuse any intruders.

The lack of maintenance only added to the chaos, with dense thickets and brambles obscuring the way.As Kosu pressed on, determination fueling his steps, he soon realized he was lost.

Each turn seemed to lead him deeper into the garden's heart, away from any semblance of an exit.

In frustration, he attempted to chant a spell to force his way out, but the air crackled with resistance.

It was as if Duke Valet had set up intricate magical mechanisms to thwart any attempts to escape.

Each incantation he tried fizzled into nothingness, swallowed by the garden's oppressive aura. With no other options, Kosu reluctantly decided to retrace his steps.

However, navigating back proved to be an arduous task.

The garden seemed to shift around him, paths leading him in circles and shadows deepening as he wandered.

Eventually, after what felt like hours, he found himself back at the gazebo. The structure stood there, worn but still majestic, its vines weaving a tapestry of nature reclaiming what was once a place of elegance.

Kosu approached it, feeling a sense of familiarity wash over him.

Perhaps this could offer some respite.

He stepped inside, the wooden floor creaking beneath his weight, and sat down to catch his breath. As he rested, he examined the gazebo more closely.

Intrigued by its craftsmanship, he noticed intricate carvings along the railing that depicted scenes of celestial beings and mythical creatures.

Each detail seemed to tell a story, but one carving caught his eye—a depiction of a key hidden among the stars.Kosu's curiosity piqued.

He ran his fingers along the railing, feeling for any irregularities.

His hand brushed against a small, concealed latch.

With a gentle tug, he activated it, and to his surprise, the floor beneath him shifted slightly.

A low rumble echoed as a section of the wooden platform slid aside, revealing a narrow staircase descending into darkness.Heart racing with both excitement and trepidation, Kosu stood up and peered down the staircase.

The air that wafted up from below was cool and musty, hinting at secrets long forgotten.

He took a deep breath, steeling himself for whatever lay beneath the gazebo. With the flicker of determination igniting within him, he descended the stairs, gripping his katana tightly.

Each step echoed softly as he ventured into the hidden underground chamber, ready to uncover the mysteries that had been concealed for far too long.As Kosu descended the narrow staircase, the air grew cooler and thicker, carrying with it the scent of damp earth and decay.

The dim light from his katana illuminated the chamber's entrance, revealing a vast underground space that stretched farther than he could see.The chamber was surprisingly expansive, with high ceilings supported by ancient stone pillars that were intricately carved with symbols and runes, their meanings long lost to time.

Shadows danced across the walls, creating an eerie ambiance that sent a shiver down his spine.

The flickering light revealed glimpses of faded murals, depicting scenes of rituals and gatherings—echoes of the Valet family's history. The floor was uneven, covered in a thick layer of dust and scattered debris, remnants of forgotten times.

In the center of the chamber stood a large circular altar, crafted from dark stone and adorned with more of the same mysterious runes that decorated the pillars.

It bore the marks of age and use, with grooves and scratches that hinted at its significance.

Surrounding the altar were several stone benches, arranged in a semicircle, as if intended for an audience of both the living and the spectral.Kosu cautiously approached the altar, drawn to its presence.

As he studied it, he noticed a shallow basin carved into its surface, now dry and empty.

The air felt charged with energy, and he could sense that this place was once a site of power—a location where rituals had been performed, perhaps even the dark rites hinted at in the letters he had discovered earlier.Along the walls, hidden niches contained remnants of old offerings—faded flowers, broken trinkets, and what appeared to be charred remnants of candles.

The atmosphere was thick with a sense of foreboding, as if the chamber itself held onto the memories of the past, both sacred and sinister. In one corner, Kosu spotted a set of old, rusted chains anchored to the wall, their purpose unclear but unsettling.

They seemed to whisper of darker rituals, binding something or someone to this place. As he took in the chamber's details, Kosu could feel the weight of history pressing down upon him.

The whispers of the past echoed in his mind, urging him to uncover the truth behind the Valet family and the secrets that had led to their downfall. With a determined heart, he stepped closer to the altar, ready to delve deeper into the mysteries of the underground chamber, for he sensed that answers awaited him just beyond the shadows.Kosu approached the rusted chains anchored to the wall, a sense of unease creeping over him.

The chains were thick and heavy, their surface covered in a rough layer of rust that spoke of years—perhaps decades—of neglect.

They clinked softly as he drew near, the sound echoing in the stillness of the chamber. He examined the chains closely, noting how they were secured to a heavy iron ring embedded in the stone wall.

The ring was worn but sturdy, suggesting that whatever had been bound here was once a significant force or a prisoner of great importance.

Kosu couldn't help but wonder who or what had been shackled to this spot.As he traced the chains with his fingers, he felt an unsettling energy pulsing through them, a remnant of whatever dark rituals had taken place in this chamber.

The air around him grew colder, and he could almost hear faint echoes of whispers, as if the chains were holding onto the remnants of a tortured past.Kosu knelt down to inspect the ground around the chains.

Bits of stone and dust were scattered, but he noticed something peculiar: faint markings etched into the floor, almost obscured by debris.

They resembled the same runes that decorated the pillars and the altar, hinting at a connection between the chains and the rituals performed here.Curiosity piqued, he focused his mana, attempting to sense any lingering magical energy.

As he did, a surge of warmth coursed through him, and the chains seemed to resonate, vibrating subtly in response.

It was a clear indication that these chains were more than mere metal; they were enchanted.Kosu stood up, contemplating the implications.

The chains could have been used to bind a powerful entity or perhaps a member of the Valet family who had dabbled in dark magic.

Either way, the presence of the chains suggested a history steeped in pain and sacrifice.Feeling a mix of determination and caution, he reached for the chains, testing their strength.

With a firm grip, he tugged on them, but they held fast, the rusted links refusing to yield.

There was a sense of finality in their resistance, as if they were meant to remain undisturbed, guarding secrets best left hidden.Kosu took a step back, contemplating his next move.

The chains were a key piece of the puzzle, and he knew he needed to uncover their true story.

With newfound resolve, he turned back to the altar, ready to delve deeper into the chamber's mysteries and see if further investigation could reveal the truth behind the rusted chains and the dark history of the Valet family.

Underground Corridor

Kosu took a moment to steady himself before continuing his search.

Time was pressing, and the weight of uncertainty hung heavy in the air.

He decided to cover more ground, prioritizing exploration over lingering at the altar.

The underground chamber extended into a long corridor that beckoned him forward, its darkness promising secrets yet to be uncovered. As he ventured deeper, the atmosphere shifted.

The air felt thicker, charged with an ominous energy that set his senses on high alert.

He moved cautiously, his katana at the ready, every sound amplified in the oppressive silence.

After a few moments of navigating the corridor, he stumbled upon a heavy door, its iron surface adorned with the same runes he had seen in the chamber.Pushing the door open, Kosu stepped into what appeared to be a prison.

The dim light revealed a series of cells lined along the walls, their barred doors rusted and creaking ominously.

It was evident that the Duke's family had their own dark means of dealing with dissidents or perhaps even those they deemed a threat.

A chill ran down his spine as he imagined the horrors that might have taken place within these walls. He moved cautiously, examining the guard room adjacent to the cells.

Inside, he found a small table cluttered with old weapons, a few rusted blades, and an assortment of keys hanging from a peg.

Among them, one key stood out—larger and more ornate than the rest.

Kosu grabbed it, knowing it might prove useful should he encounter any prisoners or locked doors later on.With the key tucked securely in his belt, he approached the first cell, peering inside.

The darkness obscured his view, but he could make out remnants of tattered clothing and broken chains.

Suddenly, a chilling sensation washed over him, and from the shadows, a hulking figure emerged. The creature was a monstrous silhouette, cloaked in darkness, with a menacing bulk and a giant greatsword gripped in its massive hand.

Without warning, it swung the sword, cleaving the ground beside Kosu in a violent arc, sending debris flying and shaking the very foundation of the prison.Kosu's heart raced as he readied his weapon, preparing for a fight that felt like a desperate clash between life and death.

But just as he took a step forward, a deep rumble echoed throughout the underground, shaking the walls and filling the air with a sense of urgency.

It was as if something—or someone—had triggered a shift in the very fabric of the space. In an instant, the monstrous figure vanished back into the shadows, leaving Kosu alone and breathless.

Cold sweat trickled down his back; he realized that this was not an opponent he could take on in his current state.

The encounter had rattled him, but he forced himself to breathe deeply, collecting his thoughts and reassessing his situation. With renewed determination, Kosu turned away from the now-deserted prison cells.

He pressed onward into the depths of the underground.

The rumble still echoed in his ears, a reminder that time was of the essence.

Whatever was happening elsewhere was beyond his control, but he knew he had to uncover the secrets hidden in this dark labyrinth before it was too late.Kosu moved cautiously along the row of prison cells, peering into each one.

Most were empty, their darkness echoing the silence of despair.

However, as he approached the last cell on the right, an unsettling sight met his gaze: the skeletal remains of a corpse slumped against the wall.A wave of discomfort washed over him, but he felt compelled to investigate.

This was the only human presence he had encountered in this forsaken manor outside of Cistar.

The remains were little more than bones, their fragile state indicating that time had not been kind.

Tattered remnants of clothing clung to the skeleton, decayed beyond recognition, leaving Kosu unable to discern anything about the deceased's former life. With a deep breath, he inserted the ornate key he had found into the cell's lock.

The mechanism clicked open, and he cautiously pushed the door ajar, stepping inside.

The air was stale and heavy, thick with the scent of neglect.

Kosu knelt beside the remains, carefully examining the bones and the cell itself. As he inspected the corpse, he couldn't shake the feeling of sorrow that washed over him.

The bones appeared to belong to a woman, and the signs of her suffering were all too evident.

Several of her bones bore fractures, and some were even missing, suggesting a cruel fate had befallen her before she had been imprisoned here.

The thought of the torment she endured sent a shiver down his spine.Kosu knew that prisoners were seldom allowed to keep anything, and it was unlikely she had been able to hide anything of value.

Shaking his head in resignation, he prepared to leave the cell when something caught his eye—a glint of metal nestled within the remains.Upon closer inspection, he discovered a ring lodged in the woman's abdomen.

His heart raced as he realized the implication: she must have swallowed the ring to keep it hidden from her captors.

With careful hands, he retrieved the ring, feeling a mixture of sadness and respect for the woman's desperate act of defiance. The ring was simple yet elegant, a silver band adorned with a small, worn gemstone that glimmered faintly even in the dim light.

Kosu tucked it into his pocket, knowing it could hold significance beyond mere aesthetics.Having found nothing else of note within the cell, Kosu stood up and took one last look at the remains, silently honoring the memory of the woman who had suffered here.

He stepped back into the corridor, closing the cell door behind him with a heavy heart. With a renewed sense of purpose, he continued down the underground corridor, each step echoing in the stillness.

The weight of the ring in his pocket served as a reminder of the lives touched by the darkness of the Duke's manor, and he was determined to uncover the truth hidden within its depths. As Kosu continued down the underground corridor, he soon approached a heavy door that creaked ominously as he pushed it open.

The sight that greeted him sent a chill racing down his spine: a torture chamber. The room was dimly lit, shadows clinging to the corners where remnants of cruel devices lingered.

Iron manacles hung from the walls, and a wooden rack stood in the center, stained with the dark remnants of past horrors.

Just the thought of the brutal actions that had taken place here was enough to make his stomach churn.

He quickly averted his gaze, feeling the weight of the room's dark history pressing down on him.Pressing forward, he encountered another door that led to a lab.

Inside, the atmosphere shifted again, filled with the faint scent of herbs and chemicals.

Shelves lined the walls, overflowing with dusty jars and vials, while dozens of books lay scattered across a cluttered table.

Ancient texts adorned with strange scripts filled the air with an aura of mystery, but Kosu realized he couldn't decipher any of it.

The knowledge contained within these pages was lost to him, and he had no choice but to move on.At the end of the corridor, Kosu found himself confronted with a dead end.

The walls were cold and unyielding, but as he examined the space, his eyes were drawn to a water drainage grate set into the floor.

It was a narrow opening, but it looked promising; perhaps it could lead to the outside or a hidden escape route.Kosu knelt beside the grate, peering into the darkness below.

The sound of trickling water echoed softly, hinting at a possible way out of this forsaken place.

He could feel a sense of urgency building within him; the longer he lingered, the more the oppressive atmosphere of the underground weighed on him. With no other options presenting themselves, Kosu decided to investigate the drainage further.

He carefully pried the grate open, the metal protesting with a harsh squeal.

As he removed it, he was met with a rush of cool, damp air that invigorated his senses.Taking a deep breath, Kosu prepared himself for the unknown.

He cautiously lowered himself into the opening, ready to explore what lay beyond.

Whether it led to freedom or further danger, he knew he had to press on.

The ring in his pocket and the memories of the tortured souls he had encountered fueled his determination as he slipped into the darkness, ready to face whatever awaited him in the depths below.

Underwater Fight

As Kosu descended into the darkness of the drainage tunnel, the cool, damp air enveloped him, carrying with it the musty scent of decay.

Thanks to his Tech Visor, he could see faintly in the gloom, the edges of the tunnel illuminated in a soft green hue.

The walls were slick with moisture, and the floor was uneven, littered with debris that shifted beneath his feet. The tunnel narrowed as he progressed, the water rising around his ankles.

It was murky and filled with a variety of indistinguishable detritus, making each step feel treacherous.

Shadows danced along the walls, creating the illusion that something was lurking just out of sight.

Kosu tightened his grip on his katana, sensing that he was not alone.Suddenly, from the depths of the shadows, monstrous forms erupted, their twisted bodies emerging from the water with terrifying speed.

They were cloaked in darkness, resembling grotesque caricatures of human shapes, their eyes glinting like shards of glass.

Without warning, they lunged at him, their claws slashing through the air.Kosu fought back instinctively, swinging his katana with precision, but the water made movement cumbersome.

Each strike felt heavy, and the monsters were relentless, their claws raking against him as he struggled to maintain his footing.

The cold water slowed him down, making it difficult to dodge their attacks. He managed to land a few blows, but the numbers were overwhelming.

One of the creatures latched onto his arm, teeth sinking into flesh.

Kosu gritted his teeth against the pain and kicked it away, but he could feel exhaustion creeping in.

The murky water swirled around him as he fought desperately, his breath becoming ragged. As he pushed through the onslaught, Kosu finally reached the end of the sewage tunnel.

However, his relief was short-lived.

He found himself facing a set of iron fences, firmly blocking his escape.

The bars were thick and rusted, preventing him from climbing over and trapping him in the narrow space.Stuck between the relentless monsters and the unforgiving fences, panic began to rise within him.

The water was now up to his waist, and he could feel his strength waning.

The creatures closed in around him, their gnarled forms moving in a predatory dance, hunger glinting in their eyes.Kosu glanced back at the fence, realizing he had no way out and was rapidly running out of breath.

The shadows pressed closer, and the situation looked grim.

He had fought valiantly, but now he stood on the brink of defeat, surrounded by darkness and despair.

With a final surge of determination, he prepared to make one last stand, knowing that he would not go down without a fight.Kosu felt the weight of despair pressing down on him, but he knew he had no choice.

With the monsters closing in, he summoned every ounce of strength and determination he had left.

Enduring the relentless attacks, he held his breath and focused, pushing aside the pain that coursed through him.He closed his eyes, clearing his mind of fear and doubt.

In this moment of desperation, he reached deep within himself, calling forth his special move, Soul Charger.

An aura enveloped him, a brilliant light radiating from his body, infusing him with renewed energy and strength.

He could feel the power surging through him, amplifying his resolve. As the creatures clawed at him, Kosu focused on the destructive potential of his next attack.

With one last deep breath, he unleashed Mind Slash, projecting a powerful wave of energy that sliced through the water like a blade through paper.

The aura surrounding him magnified the attack's potency, and the resulting force was enormous. The surge of energy obliterated the monstrous shadows, sending them spiraling away into the darkness.

For a brief moment, Kosu felt a rush of triumph, but that victory was short-lived.

The sheer power of the Mind Slash caused the walls of the sewage tunnel to tremble, and cracks began to form.

Rocks and debris tumbled from above, and the entire structure started to collapse around him.Realizing the impending danger, Kosu pushed himself toward the iron fences.

With the last remnants of his strength, he heaved against the gates, forcing them open despite the pressure of the collapsing tunnel.

The sound of falling stone echoed in his ears, a cacophony of destruction. With the fences finally giving way, Kosu dove forward, propelled by sheer willpower.

He could see the faint light of the surface beckoning him, a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos.

The sewage water surged around him, debris swirling and rising as the tunnel began to cave in completely. With every ounce of energy he had left, Kosu swam upward, his lungs burning for air.

The darkness of the tunnel threatened to consume him, but he fought against it, reaching out with desperate hands toward the light above.

The water roared around him, and he could feel the last remnants of the tunnel collapsing behind him. With little strength left, Kosu pushed himself toward the surface.

As he emerged from the water, gasping for air, he felt a rush of relief wash over him, but the adrenaline quickly faded, leaving him weak and disoriented.

The last thing he remembered was the roar of the falling rocks before darkness enveloped him.Moments later, a drop of water fell onto his face, sharp against his skin.

The sensation jolted him awake, pulling him back from the brink of unconsciousness.

Blinking against the dim light, Kosu looked around, trying to gather his bearings.

Thankfully, he realized he had not lost consciousness underwater; he was alive and breathing. As he scanned his surroundings, he discovered that he was in a cave connected to the water source.

The walls glistened with moisture, illuminated by faint shafts of light filtering through cracks in the stone.

The sound of dripping water echoed softly, creating a tranquil yet eerie atmosphere.Kosu pushed himself up, feeling the cool, damp ground beneath him.

He took a moment to catch his breath, listening to the gentle rhythm of water cascading somewhere deeper within the cave.

The air was thick and heavy, but it felt refreshing compared to the stifling darkness of the tunnel he had just escaped. He carefully stood, his legs trembling slightly as he regained his balance.

The cave was spacious, with jagged rock formations jutting out at odd angles, and pools of water reflecting the faint light.

It was a stark contrast to the horrors he had just faced, and for a moment, he allowed himself to appreciate the calm. But he knew he couldn't linger.

The dangers of the manor still loomed over him, and he needed to find a way out.

Kosu looked for any signs of an exit or path leading further into the cave.

He noticed a faint glimmer in the distance, a possible way forward.

With renewed determination, he set off toward the light, mindful of the shadows that might still hide threats. As he moved deeper into the cave, Kosu felt the weight of his experiences bearing down on him—the tortured souls, the monstrous shadows, and the ring he had retrieved from the woman's remains.

Each step was a reminder of the stakes at hand, and he steeled himself for whatever challenges lay ahead.

Outside

Kosu took a moment to assess his situation, gathering his thoughts as he stood beside the shimmering pool.

He had already checked both the front door and the garden, and the underground passage had been his route from the garden to the water source.

While he had managed to break through the sewage, he knew it was unlikely he could escape the manor so easily.

The oppressive darkness and sense of danger loomed over him like a shroud."

This cave must lead somewhere near the manor," he thought, feeling a sense of urgency wash over him.

He needed to find a way out, but he also needed to understand what he was dealing with, especially after the chaos he'd just endured.Kosu took a deep breath and began to check his equipment.

His katana was still sharp, and his gear remained intact, but it was the ring he had retrieved from the prison that caught his attention.

He pulled it from his pocket, turning it over in his hand. The ring was an ancient piece, crafted from gold that shimmered even in the dim light of the cave.

A deep red ruby was set prominently in the center, catching the glow of the bioluminescent algae and reflecting it back in vibrant hues.

The design was intricate, with swirling patterns etched into the metal, suggesting it was not merely a piece of jewelry but held significance far greater than its appearance.Kosu recalled the desperation of the woman who had clutched it in her dying moments, even going so far as to swallow it to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands.

This act spoke volumes about its importance, and he could only imagine what power or secrets it might hold.

He felt a strange connection to the ring, as if it were imbued with the remnants of the woman's spirit and her unfulfilled desires. After examining the ring one last time, Kosu slipped it back into his pocket, determination rising within him.

He couldn't afford to dwell on what he had lost; he needed to focus on the path ahead.

The cave was a mystery waiting to be unraveled, and it might lead him to answers about the Duke's dark legacy and the fate of those trapped within. With a resolute nod, Kosu made his decision.

He would press on through the cave, following the glimmering light and trusting it would guide him toward something significant.

Each step felt like a leap of faith, but he was ready to confront whatever awaited him in the depths of the unknown.

Gathering his strength, he moved forward, the echoes of the cave enveloping him as he ventured deeper into the darkness. As Kosu ventured deeper into the cave, he quickly realized that it was a natural cavern, shaped over centuries by water and time.

The rough-hewn walls and stalactites told a story of nature's artistry, while the Duke's family had built their grand estate above it, completely unaware of the secrets hidden beneath their feet.As he explored, Kosu stumbled upon a storage area near what appeared to be an exit.

Shelves lined the walls, filled with provisions, tools, and various supplies—enough to sustain a small household.

But he had little interest in these items; his only desire was to find the way out.

The sense of freedom felt tantalizingly close, and he could almost taste the fresh air beyond the cave walls.Stepping through a narrow passage, he emerged into a larger chamber and was greeted by a faint light filtering in from above.

To his relief, he could see that he had made it to the surface.

However, as he looked around, he noticed a big house built directly over the cavern, its structure imposing and ornate.

The thought of being so close to the manor filled him with a mix of euphoria and caution.Kosu pressed on, following the passageway that led him toward the next room.

He entered a kitchen, its surfaces lined with worn utensils and old cooking implements.

The smell of stale food lingered in the air, but he quickly passed through, his focus sharp.Next, he moved through a series of rooms that seemed to serve the servants of the manor.

The furnishings were simple and functional, a stark contrast to the opulence of the main estate.

Kosu felt a flicker of hope; if this was indeed the servants' quarter, there had to be a way out.He reached a wooden gate, his heart pounding in anticipation.

This was it—the moment he had been waiting for.

Taking a moment to calm himself, he breathed slowly, steadied his racing heart, and reached for the latch.

To his surprise, it turned easily in his hand. With a gentle push, the door creaked open, revealing the world outside.

Kosu stepped through and was met by a long passage that led back to the manor, flanked by a farm and a stable.

The open air was a welcome change, and he could see the sprawling forest beyond, its trees swaying gently in the breeze, and the distant mountains standing tall against the horizon. He stood there for a moment, absorbing the beauty of the outdoors, a stark contrast to the suffocating darkness of the manor.

It felt like a dream to finally be outside, free from the shadows that had haunted him for so long.Kosu knew he had to keep moving.

He could not let this opportunity slip away.

With renewed determination, he set off down the passage, ready to escape the confines of the Duke's domain and embrace the freedom that lay ahead. As Kosu burst out of the passage and into the open air, a surge of hope washed over him.

He recalled the quest that Cistar had given them: "Escape the manor before the first light shines upon it."

Could it be that he had completed it?

Yet, a nagging feeling in the back of his mind warned him that something was amiss.Without wasting another moment, Kosu sprinted toward the forest, desperate to put distance between himself and the oppressive weight of the manor.

The trees loomed tall and dark, their branches forming an intricate canopy that obscured the sky.

There were no visible trails, only the shadowy underbrush and the sounds of the night creatures that seemed to watch his every move.Pressing on through the tangled foliage, he felt the cool earth beneath his feet and the damp air filling his lungs.

Minutes turned into what felt like hours, but finally, he spotted a glimmer of light filtering through the trees ahead.

His heart raced with anticipation as he approached, but as he emerged into the clearing, his excitement turned to confusion. Before him stood the manor, looming larger than ever, its windows glinting in the moonlight.

How could this be?

He had just escaped!

Kosu shook his head in disbelief, glancing around the area, trying to make sense of the situation.

The forest had seemed endless, yet here he was, right back at the very place he had fought so hard to leave.Frustration surged within him, and he turned back to the trees, scanning for the path he had taken.

Determined to mark his way this time, he carved a small notch into the nearest tree with his katana, leaving a sign for himself.

He would not be fooled again. With renewed focus, Kosu retraced his steps, carefully noting the markings he had made.

He pushed deeper into the forest, frustration mingling with a sense of urgency.

Minutes passed, and after what felt like an eternity, he found himself back at the same spot before the manor once more, the familiar markings on the tree confirming his worst fears.Kosu's heart sank.

It seemed there was something preventing him from escaping this cursed place.

The air felt thick with magic or some dark force, trapping him within the manor's influence.

Panic began to rise, but he fought it down.

He needed to think clearly. He took a moment to collect his thoughts.

If he was to escape, he needed to understand what was keeping him trapped.

The ring in his pocket pulsed slightly, as if resonating with the energy of the manor.

Perhaps it held a clue or a key to breaking whatever enchantment bound him.Kosu steeled himself, determination flooding back into his veins.

He would not give up.

He would find a way to break this cycle and escape the manor once and for all.

Kosu took a deep breath, gripping the ring tightly in his hand as he turned back toward the manor.

The weight of his situation settled upon him, but he knew one thing for certain: he couldn't face this darkness alone.

He needed to reunite with Miko and Riku.

Together, they would have a better chance of uncovering the mysteries that shrouded the manor.

Kosu steeled himself and made his way back to the manor through the wooden passage that connected the servants' section to the main estate.

The passage was lined with railings and windows, allowing glimpses of the outside world, but he knew he needed to focus on the task at hand.

Teaming up with Miko and Riku was essential; together, they would have a better chance of uncovering the mystery that clouded the manor. As he walked along the passage, he could hear the faint creaking of the wood beneath his feet.

Natural light filtered through the windows, casting soft shadows on the walls, but the air felt heavy with the secrets the manor still held.Eventually, the passage opened up to the backyard, near the garden where he had first entered the underground labyrinth.

Kosu realized that had he successfully navigated the maze in the garden, he would have reached this very passage.

Both the underground corridor and the garden door led to the same destination, a clever design by the Duke's family to keep their secrets well-guarded.Recalling the master key he had taken from the servants' section, Kosu felt a surge of optimism.

This key would allow him to unlock the doors leading into the manor without having to go around through the garden again.

He approached the door that connected the servants' quarters to the main house, his heart racing with anticipation.Inserting the key into the lock, he turned it with a soft click.

The door swung open, and he stepped inside, greeted by the familiar scent of polished wood and candle wax.Once inside, Kosu took a moment to gather his thoughts.

He needed to find Miko and Riku quickly; the manor felt alive with hidden dangers, and time was of the essence.

He moved swiftly through the corridors, his senses heightened, ready for anything that might emerge from the shadows. As he navigated the ornate hallways, he scanned each room he passed, hoping to find his friends.

The grandeur of the manor felt suffocating, with every corner a reminder of the power and wealth that had once flourished here, now tainted by darkness.Eventually, he spotted movement at the end of the hallway.

Relief washed over him as he recognized Riku's silhouette.

Kosu quickened his pace, calling out to him.

"Riku!

Miko!

Over here!"

Riku turned, his expression shifting from confusion to relief upon seeing Kosu.

"You made it!

We were starting to worry.

Where have you been?"

Kosu quickly explained his harrowing journey through the underground passages and the peculiar cycle that had trapped him.

Riku listened intently, his brow furrowed in thought."

We need to find Miko; she was in the library last I checked," Riku said, glancing down the hall.

"If anyone can help us make sense of this, it's her."

Kosu nodded, and together they set off toward the library, determined to find their friend and uncover the truth behind the manor's dark mysteries.

As they moved through the elegant hallways, Kosu felt a renewed sense of purpose.

With his friends by his side, they would face whatever awaited them in the shadows.Riku and Kosu took off running, their destination the library study in the left wing of the manor.

The sound of their footsteps echoed in the grand hallways as they sprinted, urgency propelling them forward."

Riku!"

Kosu called out between breaths.

"What did you find?"

Riku glanced back at him, her expression a mix of excitement and concern.

"The right wing... it's strange.

It was broken in our timeline, but here it's reverted back to its former glory.

Several rooms are locked, and even my lockpicking tools didn't work.

It's as if some special force is preventing their use."

Kosu frowned, absorbing her words.

"What about the ballroom?"

"It's unlocked," Riku replied, her eyes lighting up.

"And it's been restored to its original state.

I found some strange mechanisms in there, along with a big piano.

When I examined it, I felt like it was connected to something hidden, but I couldn't figure out what.

Unfortunately, I didn't find anything else."

As they continued down the corridor, both Kosu and Riku couldn't shake the unsettling feeling that they were not alone.

There were no signs of human life in the manor—only eerie shadows that flitted just beyond their vision, remnants of something sinister that lurked in the darkness.Kosu slowed for a moment to catch his breath, deciding to share what he had encountered in the underground prison.

"I found the remains of a woman down there.

She was holding a special ring."

Riku's interest piqued, and she nodded.

"Let me see it."

Kosu pulled the ring from his pocket and handed it to her.

Riku examined it closely, her brow furrowing.

"This is powerful, but I can't sense its full potential without Miko.

We need her magical knowledge to unlock its secrets."

With the ring safely back in Kosu's pocket, they pressed on, urgency driving them.

They soon reached the library study, the heavy wooden door standing before them like a guardian to its secrets.Kosu pushed the door open, and they stepped inside.

The room was lined with towering bookshelves filled with dusty tomes, and a large oak table dominated the center of the space.

Dim light filtered through the tall windows, casting long shadows across the floor."

Let's find Miko," Kosu said, scanning the room for any sign of their friend.

The silence felt palpable, amplifying the tension that hung in the air.

The library was a treasure trove of knowledge, but it was also a reminder of the dangers that awaited them.Kosu stepped into the library study, his heart racing.

Miko had just been here, and she wasn't the type to leave without letting them know.

A nagging worry crept into his mind.

Could something have happened to her?

No, he reassured himself; she was the most careful person on their team.Riku moved toward the bookshelves, her keen eyes scanning the titles.

"It looks like I've already checked these," she said with a hint of frustration.

But then something caught her attention.

She knelt down, brushing away the dust on the floor.

"Wait a minute..."

Kosu joined her, peering closely.

"What is it?"

"There's a strange curve in the dust here," Riku observed, her fingers tracing the outline.

"This bookshelf is most likely a hidden door."

Excitement surged through Kosu.

"Let's find a way to open it!"

The two of them began to search the area for any clues that might reveal the mechanism behind the hidden door.

Riku closed her eyes for a moment, focusing her energy.

She activated her special tracing magic, a shimmering visor of water covering her eyes, allowing her to see details that would normally be invisible to the naked eye."

Got it!" she exclaimed, pointing toward a painting on the wall.

"Look at the footprint over there.

It seems Miko came close to it before walking straight to the shelves."

Kosu followed her gaze, noticing the faint imprint in the dust beneath the painting.

"She must have found something important," he said, feeling a surge of determination.

"We need to figure this out."

Riku moved closer to the painting, examining its frame.

"If Miko was here, she might have triggered something.

We should check for any hidden levers or mechanisms around the painting."

As they carefully inspected the edges of the frame, Kosu could feel his pulse quicken.

The air was thick with anticipation.

They needed to uncover the truth and find Miko before it was too late.

With each passing moment, the shadows around them felt more oppressive, as if the manor itself was watching and waiting. As Kosu and Riku examined the painting, they noticed it depicted a serene landscape, a river winding gracefully through a vibrant forest.

However, upon closer inspection, they saw that the river was intricately detailed with symbols and shapes that corresponded to the titles of the books lining the shelves."

This painting holds more than just beauty," Riku murmured, her eyes narrowing as she focused on the artwork.

"Look at these symbols by the river."

Kosu leaned in, studying the painting.

"I see an oak leaf, a mountain, a sun, and a droplet of water.

They must relate to something here."

Riku nodded, excitement sparking in her eyes.

"Each symbol likely matches a specific book on those shelves.

Let's see what we can find."

They quickly scanned the titles of the books, matching each symbol to its corresponding tome:Oak Leaf: "The Secrets of the Forest"Mountain: "Legends of the High Peaks"Sun: "The Light of Dawn"Droplet of Water: "Wonders of the Ocean"Riku's gaze lingered on the droplet of water.

"The last symbol in the painting is this one," she said, pointing decisively.

"It has to be the key."

Kosu felt a rush of determination.

"Then let's see what happens when we pull it."

Carefully, he reached up and grasped the book titled "Wonders of the Ocean."

As he pulled it from the shelf, a soft click resonated through the room.

The bookshelf began to slide open, revealing a hidden compartment behind it, cloaked in shadows."

Did you hear that?"

Riku asked, her eyes wide with awe.Kosu nodded, adrenaline surging through him.

"I did.

This must be the mechanism that leads to whatever Miko discovered."

They exchanged a glance filled with both trepidation and excitement.

With the hidden door now ajar, a new path lay before them—one that promised answers and perhaps a way to find their missing friend."

Let's go," Kosu urged, stepping through the opening.

Riku followed closely behind, both of them ready to face whatever lay in the darkness beyond the bookshelf.

The manor's secrets awaited, and they were determined to uncover them together.

End of the road

Beyond the sliding bookshelf lay a long, curved staircase that spiraled down into the depths of the manor.

The dim light barely illuminated the steps, which seemed to stretch far beyond what the eye could see.

Kosu felt a knot tighten in his stomach as he gazed down the seemingly endless descent. He gulped, recalling the hidden elevator in the garden that had first led him underground.

This staircase felt eerily similar, a passage into the unknown.

"Riku, I think this leads to the underground chamber," he said, his voice echoing softly in the stillness.Riku raised an eyebrow, her expression curious.

"Didn't you say you had already been there?

Shouldn't you have met Miko down there?"

Kosu shook his head.

"The underground chamber spans from the manor to the servants' section.

It's vast, and I can't help but wonder if there are places I didn't discover."

A sense of unease washed over him, mingling with the anticipation of what lay ahead. After a moment of silence, Kosu and Riku exchanged determined nods.

They couldn't turn back now.

With a shared resolve, they began their descent down the staircase.

Each step was deliberate, the air growing cooler and heavier as they ventured deeper into the manor's hidden depths. The walls were lined with old stone, and the faint scent of dampness filled their lungs.

Shadows danced around them, flickering in the dim light, and Kosu felt the weight of the manor's secrets pressing down on him.

Together, they ventured further into the darkness, their hearts racing with the promise of discovery and the hope of finding Miko.As Kosu and Riku reached the end of the staircase, they stepped into a vast underground chamber that took their breath away.

The dim light from flickering sconces cast a warm glow, illuminating the stone walls adorned with intricate carvings of ancient symbols and scenes from the manor's long-forgotten history. The chamber was expansive, with high ceilings that seemed to stretch into the shadows above.

In the center of the room stood a large circular platform, intricately designed with elaborate patterns that mirrored the symbols they had seen in the painting.

Surrounding the platform were several archways leading to darkened corridors, each one hinting at more secrets hidden within the underground labyrinth.Kosu's eyes widened as he took in the surroundings.

"This place is massive," he murmured, awe-struck.

"I had no idea it was this big."

Riku stepped forward, her curiosity piqued.

"Look over there!" she exclaimed, pointing to a large stone altar at the far end of the chamber.

Upon it lay a collection of artifacts—old books, peculiar trinkets, and what appeared to be relics of great significance. As they approached the altar, Kosu felt a chill run down his spine.

One item in particular drew his attention: a shimmering orb that pulsated with a soft blue light.

It seemed to hum with energy, and Kosu could almost feel its power calling to him."

Do you think Miko could be here?"

Riku asked, her voice barely above a whisper as she examined the artifacts.

"What if she discovered something important?"

Kosu nodded, scanning the room for any signs of their friend.

"We need to search for her.

She might have left clues behind."

Just then, a soft rustling echoed from one of the nearby archways, causing both of them to freeze.

Shadows flickered in the corners of the chamber, and Kosu felt a surge of apprehension.

Whatever lay in the darkness was not just a remnant of the past; it might still be very much alive."

Stay close," Kosu instructed, gripping Riku's arm gently as they prepared to investigate the source of the sound.

The underground chamber was a treasure trove of secrets, but it also felt like a trap, and they needed to tread carefully.Kosu and Riku continued down the winding staircase, the air growing heavier with each step.

As they descended, they passed through a small room containing a stone tablet inscribed with an ancient language.

The markings were indecipherable, but their presence added to the sense of foreboding that enveloped them.

With little time to linger, they pressed on, the dark energy thickening around them, suffocating and oppressive. As they approached the entrance to a large chamber, the sinister energy intensified.

Kosu felt a weight on his chest, as if unseen hands were pushing him back.

He exchanged a glance with Riku, both of them aware that entering this room would be a struggle."

Are you ready?"

Kosu asked, his voice steady despite the unease creeping into his mind.Riku nodded, determination etched on her face.

Together, they took a deep breath and pushed forward, but it felt as if an invisible barrier resisted their every move.

They stumbled, fighting against the force that seemed to claw at them, trying to pull them back into the darkness behind."

Keep going!"

Riku urged, gritting her teeth as she felt the energy swirl around her like a tempest.

Kosu clenched his fists, summoning all his strength.

With a final push, they broke through the threshold, stumbling into the room.Inside, the atmosphere was charged with a dark, pulsating energy that seemed to writhe like a living thing.

Shadows danced along the walls, and the air crackled with tension.

In the center of the room floated a girl, surrounded by ritual tools and intricate magic patterns drawn on the ground.

Miko appeared to be in a deep slumber, her expression peaceful despite the chaos surrounding her.

The dark energy raged, swirling like a storm, yet she remained undisturbed.Kosu and Riku gasped at the sight, the unthinkable scene filling them with a mix of awe and dread.

Just then, a familiar voice broke through the haze."

Kosu?!

Riku?!"

Miko's voice brought them back to reality, snapping them from their reverie."

Miko!

You're here?!"

They rushed toward her, relief flooding their hearts."

I came through the hidden stairs behind the library shelves," Miko explained, her voice steady despite the chaos.

"I reached this place before you, but I was caught up in what happened here."

Her brow furrowed as she recounted, "Then a monster appeared—a jailor with a massive sword."

Kosu's heart sank as he recognized the description.

"I encountered that monster in the underground prison.

It must be guarding important locations."

Miko nodded, her expression grim.

"I couldn't fight it.

I'm a medic and a supporter, not a warrior.

I tried to slow it down, to survive.

But then... something happened.

The ground rumbled, mechanisms activated elsewhere, and the monster vanished into thin air."

Kosu felt a mix of admiration and concern for Miko.

"And then?"

"I hid behind one of the columns to treat my wounds," she said, her gaze flickering to the patterns on the ground.

"I didn't know if you would come or if I'd be trapped here forever."

The three of them stood together, the energy in the room still swirling around them, but with Miko awake, they felt a renewed sense of purpose.

They needed to uncover the truth behind the dark energy, the rituals, and the sleeping girl at the center of it all.

Together, they would face whatever danger lay ahead. As Kosu stood in the room, the warmth of the ring in his pocket suddenly intensified, causing him to instinctively pull it out.

He held it up to the dim light, watching as it glowed faintly.Miko's eyes widened at the sight.

"That ring!

It's the key to the ritual," she said, her voice tinged with urgency.

"The tablet from before spoke of it: 'It's the vow that connects life and death, the realm of ours and what lies beyond.'"Kosu felt a chill run down his spine.

"I found this ring in the prison.

A woman held onto it even after death," he explained, recalling the eerie encounter.Miko's expression shifted as she connected the dots.

"I remember!

When I examined the study, there were references to a ritual involving Duke Valet and Marquess Bedford.

This ring must be tied to spells only available to the nobility."

Riku glanced at the girl floating in the center of the room.

"Do you think that girl over there is the Duke's daughter?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.Miko's eyes filled with sadness as she nodded.

"I think it's her."

Kosu's heart raced, but he fought to remain focused.

"Hold on," he said urgently.

"I know there's more to uncover about the secrets of the manor, but we must get out of here.

Thorn and Jenna are in danger; they could fall under Cistar's influence."

Miko and Riku exchanged glances, understanding the gravity of the situation but feeling lost in the fog of uncertainty.

"But how do we escape?"

Riku asked, her voice trembling."

If this ring is important to her, we should bring it to her!"

Kosu declared, determination surging through him.

He stood up, gripping the ring tightly.

"I'll take it to the Duke's daughter."

"It's dangerous, Kosu!"

Miko protested, concern etched on her face.

"We don't know what that energy will do!"

Kosu met her gaze, his resolve unwavering.

"I've been outside; we're trapped in a strange dimension.

This is the only way!"

He took a deep breath, the weight of the moment pressing down on him. With steely determination, Kosu approached the floating girl, the raging dark energy swirling around her like a tempest.

He could feel its pull, trying to draw him back, but he pressed forward, each step a battle against the oppressive force."

Stay close!" he called back to Miko and Riku, who watched with bated breath.

The air crackled with tension as Kosu fought against the unseen barrier, every instinct screaming at him to turn back. But he was determined.

He had to reach her, to deliver the ring and bring some semblance of peace to the chaos surrounding them.

With every ounce of strength he possessed, he pushed through the raging power, determined to succeed in this perilous quest.

Wake the Princess

Kosu pressed forward, each step feeling like a battle against an unseen force.

The dark energy swirled around him, a palpable weight that threatened to crush him.

As he moved closer to the girl, he could feel the sinister power seeping into his body, leaving a trail of exhaustion and pain in its wake.

His muscles screamed in protest, and he felt as though his very essence was being ripped apart."

Keep going, Kosu!

You're almost there!"

Riku called out, her voice echoing with urgency.

She stood behind him, her eyes scanning the swirling shadows, trying to find a path through the chaos.

"The energy is lower to your left!

Move now!"

Kosu strained to hear her over the roar of the dark energy.

Every step felt like wading through molasses, his limbs heavy and unresponsive.

Miko stood just behind Riku, her hands glowing with the soft light of her potions.

"I'm trying to support you, Kosu!

Just hold on a little longer!" she urged, pouring magic into him as best as she could.Despite her efforts, the dark energy was relentless, gnawing at Kosu's strength faster than Miko could replenish it.

With every second, he felt a growing sense of dizziness, his breath coming in heavy gasps.

It was as if the shadows were reaching into his very core, siphoning his vitality away.Yet, amidst the chaos, the floating girl appeared like a beacon of hope—a lighthouse shining brightly in the depths of despair.

Her presence calmed him, and he found a renewed sense of determination washed over him.

He had to reach her.The ring in his hand reacted fiercely against the encroaching darkness, its warmth intensifying.

He could feel the heat radiating from it, reaching out toward the girl.

As if sensing the energy, her body trembled slightly, a flicker of awareness igniting within her. With one last surge of willpower, Kosu gathered every ounce of strength he had left.

He took a deep breath, the world around him fading into a blur, and launched himself toward her.

"I'm coming!" he shouted, grasping for her hand. The moment their fingers connected, a wave of calm washed over the room.

The dark energy receded as if repelled by the bond forged between them.

Kosu and the girl began to descend slowly to the ground, the oppressive weight lifting from his body.Miko and Riku rushed to his side as they landed, concern etched on their faces.

Miko immediately began to tend to Kosu, pulling out every potion she had at her disposal.

"You did it!

But you're hurt!" she exclaimed, her hands moving quickly to treat his wounds.Riku knelt beside the girl, her heart racing.

"She seems to be waking up!"

Riku said, her voice filled with hope as she observed the girl's features.

The darkness around them faded, and for the first time, a glimmer of light pierced through the shadows, offering a sense of safety.Kosu lay back, exhaustion washing over him, but the sight of the girl awakening filled him with a sense of purpose.

They had made it this far, and now, perhaps, they could uncover the truth together. As the dust settled, Kosu finally got a good look at the girl who had been floating in the center of the room.

She had long, flowing red hair that cascaded down her back like a fiery waterfall.

Her white dress resembled a wedding gown, adorned with delicate lace and intricate embroidery that shimmered softly in the ambient light.

A white veil rested gently on her head, adding an ethereal quality to her appearance. When she began to stir, her bright green eyes fluttered open, and for a moment, confusion clouded her features.

As she focused on Kosu, a relieved smile broke through her initial bewilderment.

"Calisto?" she murmured, misinterpreting him for someone else.

Her voice was soft and melodic, yet tinged with urgency.Kosu blinked, taken aback.

"I'm not Calisto.

My name is Kosu," he replied, his heart racing at the unexpected connection."

Calisto..." she repeated, her brow furrowing as she registered his words.

"I...

I'm Juliana."

The name echoed in Kosu's mind.

"Juliana?

Not Jhurala?," he remarked, a hint of curiosity creeping into his tone, recalling the name Jhurala that had been whispered in the manor's shadows. At the mention of her name, tears welled in Juliana's eyes, and she suddenly collapsed against Kosu, sobbing quietly.

"I had a nightmare about you being killed," she cried, her voice breaking.

"There was chaos, a magician, and my relatives...

It was so terrible!"

Kosu felt a wave of compassion wash over him as he held her gently, trying to provide comfort.

"It's okay, you're safe now," he reassured her, glancing at Miko and Riku for support. But Juliana's expression shifted to one of confusion.

"Where am I?

What happened?" she asked, her voice laced with desperation.

It was clear she was disoriented, unable to grasp the situation fully.Miko stepped forward, her face a mixture of concern and curiosity.

"We found you here in the underground chamber.

There's been a lot going on, but we're here to help you," she explained gently.Juliana looked between them, her eyes darting as if searching for answers in their faces.

"I don't understand," she whispered, her voice trembling.

"All I remember is the nightmare... and then... nothing."

Kosu exchanged worried glances with Miko and Riku, realizing that while they had made progress in finding her, the answers they sought were still shrouded in mystery.

They needed to understand what had happened to Juliana and the connection to the dark energy that had surrounded them.

But for now, all they could do was offer her their support as they pieced together the fragments of the chaos surrounding them.A sudden clap echoed through the chamber, causing everyone to turn in unison.

From the shadows emerged Cistar, her presence commanding yet serene.

"Congratulations, lady Juliana, your prince has come to wake you up," she said, a gentle smile gracing her lips.Kosu felt a shiver run down his spine at her words, while the others exchanged confused glances.

"As for you three," Cistar continued, "congratulations, you found the exit."

"What do you mean?"

Kosu asked, suspicion creeping into his voice."

Let's take it at face value," he added, trying to maintain his composure.

"Just break my friends free."

Cistar smiled knowingly, then waved her hand.

From the shadows, Thorn and Jenna emerged, their forms solidifying as consciousness returned to them.

As they shook off the disorientation, confusion flickered across their faces. When Thorn's eyes landed on Cistar, his instincts kicked in.

"You...!" he growled, readying his weapon."

Wait, Thorn, we're safe!"

Kosu quickly intervened, raising his hands to calm him.

Thorn hesitated, then slowly relaxed, stepping aside to regroup with the others.Miko pointed toward the center of the chamber, where the sinister energy had once raged.

In its place now stood a shimmering portal that looked remarkably like a dungeon entrance.

"Could it be... we've been inside a dungeon this whole time?" she mused, disbelief coloring her voice.Cistar nodded, her smile unwavering.

She moved closer to Juliana, helping her to her feet.

"I guess you have many questions, but let's change the location first," she suggested, her demeanor calm and inviting.Kosu exchanged glances with his team.

They had the chance to return to their world, but this was also an opportunity to uncover more about the situation.Miko was the first to speak up.

"I want to stay here and talk to Cistar.

There are too many questions left unanswered."

Jenna chimed in, "I agree.

I still have equipment in the attic, and since the mastermind herself said it's safe now, we can afford to spend a little more time here."

Riku shook her head, a knowing look in her eyes.

"I had a feeling this would happen," she said quietly.Thorn hesitated, the weight of leadership pressing down on him.

He had done little to help during this mission and felt like a burden to his team.

Kosu noticed his friend's turmoil and placed a reassuring hand on Thorn's back.

"What matters is that we're all safe now," he said, encouraging him with sincerity. After a moment of contemplation, the team collectively decided to stay back in the manor, eager to uncover the truth.

Cistar nodded approvingly.

With a snap of her fingers, a wave of energy enveloped them, transporting everyone to another room. They found themselves in the same room where they had first been treated upon entering the manor, the air filled with a mix of anticipation and uncertainty.

The familiar surroundings brought a sense of comfort, but the questions that loomed over them remained unanswered."

Now," Cistar began, her tone shifting to one of authority, "let's discuss everything."

The Answers

As the team gathered in the room, anticipation hung in the air.

Cistar clapped her hands, and several maids entered, their heads adorned with intricate flower arrangements.

The sight was both beautiful and unsettling, and Miko couldn't help but ask, "Are they human?"

Cistar's expression turned somber as she nodded.

"Yes, they were."

Before anyone could voice further questions, Cistar raised her hand, commanding their attention.

"Even though I have agreed to answer your questions, there are rules that must be adhered to.

There is a balance that needs to be maintained; you cannot receive too much, nor can you spend too little."

She gracefully lifted a cup of tea to her lips, taking a sip as she waited for the team's response.

The atmosphere grew thick with tension as the team exchanged glances, each aware of the unusual nature of the maids before them.

They recalled the odd requests and rewards Cistar had mentioned before, even when she had taken Thorn and Jenna hostage. After a moment, Kosu spoke up, "We understand and agree to your terms."

Cistar's smile returned, and she continued, "Then for each one of you, I will answer three questions.

There will be no lies—only truth.

However, after I answer all your questions, I will ask you to listen to one of my requests."

The team nodded in agreement, feeling the weight of the moment.

It was a chance to uncover the truth about the manor, the Duke, and the chaos that had ensued."

Very well," Cistar said, setting down her cup.

"Who wishes to go first?"

The tension in the room was palpable as Thorn stepped forward, his voice steady but filled with curiosity.

"Just who are you, Cistar?

You seem to have a connection to the Duke family, appearing in the paintings of many generations.

You're also the only human we've encountered in this manor."

Cistar met his gaze, her expression a mix of pride and melancholy.

"I am a vampiric creature who has lived for a thousand years.

The Duke family is my descendant.

I have always resided in this manor, donning the guise of a maid to blend in with outsiders.

Being a true vampire, I possess longevity beyond that of my descendants, who are not pure blood."

Kosu quickly followed up, sensing that Cistar would only answer one question at a time.

"But you're the only human here.

What happened to the Duke family?"

Cistar's smile faded, replaced by a somber expression.

"Duke Valet was a greedy man.

Even as a high noble, he sought to grasp even more powerful magic.

This ambition led to the catastrophe that befell his family.

In a desperate attempt to control life and death, he arranged a marriage ritual for his daughter.

However, things spiraled out of control when the magician killed the groom and took the ring with her."

She paused, her voice thick with emotion.

"Juliana, one of the two pillars for the spell, became engulfed in dark energy, and the entire manor was pulled into another dimension.

The people trapped here tried desperately to escape, but none succeeded.

Upon their deaths, their souls were bound to this place, unable to ascend to heaven.

To help them, I used my magic to transform them into familiars, which is why they appear as they do now."

Cistar gestured toward the maids behind her, their floral heads a haunting reminder of their past lives.

The team took in her words, a mixture of sympathy and horror washing over them as they processed the tragic fate of the Duke family and the souls bound to the manor. After Kosu finished his question, Jenna stepped forward, her frustration evident.

"Then why did you take all of us to this manor?

We are in the middle of an important mission right now!"

Cistar shook her head gently.

"It's not I who called you to this place.

You just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Occasionally, the portal connecting our worlds opens, and you found yourselves here during that moment."

"But it's the bats—no, YOUR bats—that brought us here!"

Riku interjected, her skepticism clear.Cistar continued calmly, "The bats were sent to the outside world to gather provisions and information for me.

They simply return when the portal opens."

Jenna and Riku exchanged doubtful glances, clearly unconvinced by her explanation.Miko, who had been waiting patiently to ask her question, finally spoke up.

"I want to know about the ritual.

Why did the magician sabotage it?"

Cistar's expression turned somber.

"The magician was in cahoots with the Duke.

I believe she was the one who came up with the idea for the ritual in the first place.

She carefully selected the candidates and conducted all the preparations.

But during the marriage ceremony, she killed the groom and stole the ring from the bride.

The ring was the key to the ritual, connecting both the bride and the groom.

By severing that connection through murder, she forced the other pillar to bear the entire burden of the spell.

I believe she intended to use the ring to control Juliana, making her execute her dark desires."

Kosu's eyes widened as realization struck him.

"The woman's corpse in the underground prison must be the magician!

So she had been captured and met her end here!"

The others nodded in agreement, and Cistar affirmed, "Yes, that aligns with what I know."

Cistar then clapped her hands, drawing their attention back to her.

"I guess that means the first round of questions has been completed."

Her smile returned, a hint of satisfaction in her demeanor, as she prepared to delve deeper into the mysteries surrounding them. The team exchanged knowing glances, each of them acutely aware that after the first round of questions, they were left with even more uncertainties about the manor and its dark history.

The atmosphere was thick with anticipation as they contemplated their next inquiries. After taking a sip of tea, Cistar smiled gently, encouraging the team to continue.

"Now, what other questions do you have for me?"

Kosu was the first to step up again.

"What is the Jailer monster that holds a giant sword?

That monster attacked Riku, Miko, and me while we were searching around the manor, but it always seems to disappear!"

Cistar's eyes widened in surprise for a moment before a calm smile spread across her face.

"That is Duke Valet.

I made him like that as punishment for causing the downfall of his family.

He retains some of his consciousness, which is why he wanders near places related to the ritual."

She focused her gaze on Kosu, her tone shifting slightly as she continued, "As for why he disappears before you, I suppose fate has its ways of punishing him."

The mocking lilt in her voice made it clear that she harbored deep resentment for the Duke.Thorn seized the opportunity to ask the next question.

"What happened to the people who got lost in the manor?"

Cistar smirked, a hint of wickedness in her smile.

"Where else could they be?

They are all here, and have become a part of this manor now."

The team gasped in horror as the realization dawned on them.

The monsters they had fought within the manor were the very victims of Cistar's machinations.

She truly was a wicked old monster!Miko quickly followed up, her voice trembling slightly.

"Why don't you leave this manor?

Surely you can do it, right?"

Cistar shook her head slowly.

"This manor now exists in another dimension, what you would call a dungeon.

As you know, creatures from the dungeon cannot pass through the portal gates; they are bound to the dungeon core.

The bat familiars I send out use the blood of adventurers who haven't been tainted by the dungeon's energy.

But for me, it's the end.

And I cannot leave Juliana alone here, can I?"

Her smile was warm, but a faint sadness flickered behind her eyes.Riku pressed on with her question.

"If you're so powerful, why didn't you break free from the curse and rescue Juliana yourself?"

Cistar shook her head again.

"I'm not powerful at all.

I may live longer than you, but that doesn't make me powerful.

Ancient creatures like me are bound by many rules; we cannot live freely as you do."

Jenna's frustration bubbled to the surface.

"Again with the rules!

You keep using them to prevent us from knowing more about this manor!

Just what are these rules you keep talking about?"

Cistar answered calmly, aware of her fate.

"The rules that bind us are the rules of origin.

They connect to the very essence of our beings, and we have no choice but to obey them.

It's like how humans must use their mouths to eat; no other part of the body can do that.

If the mouth cannot eat, then it ceases to be human and may even cease to exist."

Miko's eyes lit up with understanding.

"I get it!

So ancient creatures are bound by their own concepts!"

The rest of the team looked at Miko with puzzled expressions.

She continued, "It means that beings like Cistar have an inherent understanding of who they are in relation to their concepts.

It's a deep comprehension, like knowing about the particles within a molecule!"

Miko beamed with excitement.

"I wish I could bring professors to talk to Cistar!

If her knowledge could be shared, our country—no, the whole world—would benefit immensely!"

Riku attempted to calm Miko down.

"Now, now, Miko.

From what I can see, she's not exactly open to sharing her knowledge."

Cistar smiled, taking another sip of her tea.

"Oh, this tea is cold.

Let me change it for you."

She stood gracefully, allowing the maids to handle the refreshment and bring in more snacks."

I will need to check on Juliana.

I'll return shortly.

In the meantime, please think about your final question," Cistar said with a warm smile before vanishing into the shadows, leaving the team to ponder their next move.

Extra: Salvation

Juliana found herself suddenly teleported to her room, the familiar surroundings feeling both comforting and suffocating.

As she stood there, memories washed over her like relentless waves, each one a painful reminder of her past.

She pressed her hands against the wall for support, tears streaming down her cheeks. Her thoughts drifted back to her father, Duke Valet, a man once full of pride and ambition.

She remembered the warmth of his embrace, the way he would tell her stories of their lineage, instilling in her a sense of duty.

But those memories were tainted by the shadows of his downfall, the way he had become a hollow shell of the man she once admired.

She recalled the late-night discussions filled with tension as whispers of dissent filled their home. Then there were her relatives, once vibrant and full of life, now just echoes in her mind.

She remembered their laughter during family gatherings, the joy that had filled their hearts.

But that joy was shattered the night of the ritual.

The sinister atmosphere that cloaked the manor came alive in her mind, dark figures moving in the shadows, plotting their deceit.

She recalled the night of her engagement, the hope in her heart, only to be crushed by the betrayal that followed. Her fiancé—his face haunted her.

She remembered the glimmer in his eyes as he promised her a life of love and happiness.

But that promise turned to ash when he was murdered during the ceremony, the screams of those present ringing in her ears.

The chaos that erupted had been surreal; she could still hear the shattering of glass and the cries of despair that filled the air.

It was a night filled with blood and betrayal, a night that had forever changed the course of her life.As her thoughts spiraled into the depths of her grief, she could almost hear the echo of screams, the twisted laughter of those who had caused so much pain.

The manor, once a place of elegance and joy, had become a prison of nightmares, trapping her and the souls of those who had perished within its walls.Just as the weight of despair threatened to overwhelm her, the door creaked open, and Cistar entered the room.

Her presence was both calming and commanding, a stark contrast to the memories that had just engulfed Juliana."

Juliana," Cistar said softly, her voice a gentle balm against the turmoil.

"I felt your pain.

You do not have to bear this alone."

Juliana looked up, her eyes red and swollen.

"It's all too much, Cistar.

The memories... they haunt me.

I thought I could be strong, but I feel so lost."

Cistar moved closer, her expression empathetic.

"You have every right to grieve, to remember what was lost.

But remember, your past does not have to define your future.

We can shape what comes next together."

With a shaky breath, Juliana nodded, feeling a flicker of hope ignite within her.

"What do you suggest we do?

How can we break free from this cycle of pain?"

Cistar smiled gently, her eyes sparkling with determination.

"We will free the souls trapped in this manor, including your fiancé's.

By doing so, we can bring peace to the past and reclaim your future.

You are stronger than you think, Juliana.

Together, we will find a way to heal."

Juliana wiped away her tears, a sense of purpose beginning to replace her sorrow.

"You're right.

I won't let the past control me any longer.

I want to honor their memories by helping others find peace."

Cistar nodded in agreement.

"Then let us set our plan into motion.

We will face the darkness together, and in doing so, we will carve a path toward the light."

With renewed resolve, Juliana felt the weight of her memories shift from a burden to a driving force, fueling her desire to reclaim her life and the lives of those who had been lost.

Together, she and Cistar would forge a new destiny, one where hope could flourish once more.

The Request

The doors creaked open, and both Juliana and Cistar stepped into the room.

Juliana had traded her wedding dress for a dark violet gown that draped elegantly around her, evoking the somber air of a widow.

The transformation was striking; she now looked both regal and haunting. As her gaze fell upon Kosu, a moment of silent recognition passed between them.

Then, with grace befitting her noble lineage, she curtsy deeply.

"I apologize for my late introduction.

I am Juliana, daughter of Duke Valet.

Thank you for saving me."

Kosu, taken aback by her poise and sincerity, stuttered, "No, this is what we need to do.

I cannot leave a person in crisis."

Juliana offered a soft smile, her eyes reflecting gratitude and an underlying sadness.

Cistar motioned for them to take their seats, and the atmosphere shifted as they settled into a more formal arrangement. Before the team could ask their last round of questions, Cistar spoke, her voice steady yet laced with anticipation.

"Before we continue, I would like you to hear my request."

The team exchanged glances, their expressions a mix of curiosity and apprehension.

They leaned in, fully attentive, ready to absorb whatever Cistar had to say.

This moment felt pivotal, and they understood that her request could hold significant weight in their quest to navigate the complexities of the manor."

Please, listen carefully," Cistar continued, her gaze scanning each member of the team.

"What I ask of you is not simple.

As you know, this manor is steeped in darkness, and many souls are trapped within its confines.

I wish for you to help me free those who remain bound to this place.

In doing so, you will not only release them but also help restore balance to the manor itself."

Juliana nodded solemnly, her expression mirroring Cistar's gravity.

"It is a chance for redemption—for both the lost souls and for my family's legacy."

The team absorbed her words, the weight of the request settling heavily upon them.

They understood that this was not just a plea for help; it was a call to confront the past and reshape the future of the manor and its inhabitants. With the atmosphere thick with tension and purpose, they prepared to respond, knowing that their next steps would be crucial in determining the fate of not only themselves but also those trapped within the manor's dark embrace.Jenna was the first to break the tense silence, her voice steady but challenging.

"What if we don't accept this request?

What will you do to us?"

Cistar smiled, but there was an edge to it, a hint of aggression lurking beneath her calm exterior.

"Nothing.

You are free to go.

But keep in mind that you are inside my domain, okay?"

Thorn, sensing the underlying threat, quickly interjected, "Please tell us what we need to do first8."

Cistar's smile widened, a flicker of approval in her eyes.

"I believe you are more professional than I am at dealing with dungeons.

How will you handle a dungeon filled with dozens of monsters like this?"

Kosu and Thorn exchanged knowing glances and simultaneously realized, "The dungeon core!"

Cistar nodded, pleased.

"Yes, gentlemen.

I need you to find and destroy the core to set free all the souls that have been bound to it."

Miko's brow furrowed with concern.

"But what about you and Juliana?"

Juliana shook her head firmly.

"Nothing will happen to us.

We remain bound to this manor, but at least the souls of all those who have been trapped here can finally ascend to heaven."

Jenna pressed further, "Do you know where this core is?

It will take a long time to search this whole manor!"

Cistar shook her head regretfully.

"Unfortunately, we who are bound to the core cannot go near it, so we do not know its exact location."

Jenna felt a wave of unease wash over her at the answer."

But we do know the places where we cannot go," Cistar added, her tone shifting slightly.

"That should give you a head start."

Riku jumped in, eager to clarify the situation.

"What about our last question?"

Cistar looked surprised for a moment but then returned to her calm demeanor.

"You can continue after you've completed my request.

Or did you want to ask it now?"

Miko quickly intervened, blocking Riku's mouth with her hand.

"No, no!

We should focus on the request first, right?"

She leaned closer, whispering, "I have a lot of questions too, but let's save them.

I'm sure many will be answered once we start the quest!"

With the mission set before them, the team exchanged resolute nods, ready to take on the challenges that awaited them in the depths of the manor.

The weight of their task hung in the air, but so did a sense of purpose, driving them forward into the unknown.Kosu looked around at his teammates, determination etched on his face.

"Which places are the potential locations of the dungeon core?" he asked Cistar, eager to gather more information.Cistar nodded thoughtfully.

"There are three places in the manor that I cannot go.

The first is the maze in the garden, the second is the treasure room, and the last is the ritual chamber underground.

Either these places have artifacts that prevent me from approaching them, or the dungeon core resides there, keeping me from destroying it myself."

Kosu quickly pieced it together.

"I've been to the garden maze while searching for an exit.

There's definitely a mechanism that prevents the use of magic there.

I thought it was just some artifact of the Duke to keep outsiders away."

Riku's eyes lit up.

"That's our head start!

With my scouting abilities, we can surely find a way to navigate through the maze."

Riku then recalled the second place.

"I passed by the treasure room when I was checking the manor.

The lock was impossible to pick.

We'll need to find the key to get in."

Kosu checked his pockets, his heart racing at the thought.

"Could it be the key from the servants' chamber?

Here, let me give it to the team to check."

Miko chimed in, her brow furrowing.

"So, the ritual chamber is underground.

I think I may have passed through it when I checked the hidden stairs.

I'll need to go back and investigate it one more time."

Jenna, feeling a spark of excitement, suggested, "Since Cistar has freed us from her familiars, we can use the radio to communicate now."

Cistar smiled in agreement, her presence a steadying force.Thorn, taking charge, laid out the plan.

"Then it's clear what we need to do.

Riku, you'll check the garden maze and put your scouting skills to good use.

Kosu, you should investigate the treasure room; the key could be what we need to open it.

Miko, you and I will head to the ritual chamber.

You're not a combatant, so I'll protect you.

Jenna, I'm counting on you to prepare the equipment and set up our radio communications.

While you're at it, try to send a telegram to HQ to inform them of our situation."

Miko, Riku, and Jenna all saluted, their resolve shining through.

"Roger!" they chorused.Kosu, not used to military lingo but caught up in the moment, followed suit and saluted as well.

"Roger!"

After the team saluted, Cistar stepped forward, her voice firm yet encouraging.

"May the spirits guide you and grant you strength in your quest.

Good luck."

Juliana, her gaze softening, added, "And may you find the peace and resolution you seek.

I believe in each of you."

As the team prepared to leave, Juliana caught Kosu's eye.

"I...

I'm sorry for mistaking you for my husband earlier," she said, her voice tinged with regret.

"It was a moment of weakness, I suppose."

Kosu flashed a carefree smile, the kind that radiated warmth and reassurance.

"No need to worry, Juliana.

Just believe in me.

I will surely complete this request and free your family's souls."

In that moment, as she looked at him, Juliana could see shadows of her husband, Calisto, flickering in Kosu's presence.

Memories flooded her mind—the way Calisto had smiled, the strength he had exuded.

She whispered his name softly, "Calisto," feeling it escape her lips like a gentle breath.Kosu noticed her moment of vulnerability and gave her an encouraging thumbs-up.

"We've got this," he said, his voice infused with confidence. With that, he turned to join the team, stepping out into the unknown with determination.

As they made their way down the corridor, Juliana felt a flicker of hope ignite within her.

She watched them go, the shadows of her past mingling with the promise of the future, ready to take the next steps toward healing and liberation. With their roles assigned and a sense of purpose ignited, the team felt ready to face the challenges ahead.

Each member understood the weight of their task and the importance of their mission to uncover the truth behind the manor's darkness.

They set off, determined to navigate their respective paths and bring them one step closer to freeing the souls bound within the manor's depths.

Treasure Room

The team quickly divided, each member sprinting toward their assigned locations.

Kosu dashed down the hallway, heading straight for the right wing.

As he passed through the grand ballroom, memories of lavish gatherings flashed through his mind, but he pushed them aside, focusing on the task at hand.Entering the corridor of the right wing, he felt a sense of urgency.

"Now, where should I find that treasure room?" he murmured to himself, scanning the doors lining the corridor.Just then, his transmission device crackled to life.

"Kosu!

Are you there?"

Jenna's voice came through, clear and determined.

"The communication system is working now!"

Kosu quickly responded, "I'm here!

I've reached the right wing, but I need to know which room is the treasure room."

Riku's voice chimed in next.

"I'm right in front of the garden maze.

It seems that offensive abilities are disabled here, but thankfully, my scouting skills are still intact, and I have tracking devices ready."

She continued, "Kosu, in the right wing, only the rooms on the first floor are locked.

The second floor contains the rooms of the Duke's family."

"Thanks, Riku!"

Kosu replied, invigorated by the updates.

"I'll start checking the rooms on the first floor."

Kosu moved through the first floor, his heart racing with anticipation.

He pulled out the master key he had found in the servant's chamber, inserting it into the first locked door.

With a satisfying click, the door swung open.Inside, he was greeted by a lavish bath, fit for the Duke's family.

The room was expansive, with marble tiles that gleamed under the soft glow of ornate sconces.

A large, sunken tub made of polished stone sat at the center, its edges adorned with intricate carvings of mythical creatures.

The tub was filled with what appeared to be crystals shimmering in the light, making the water look inviting and luxurious.

Lush plants in decorative pots lined the walls, adding a touch of nature to the opulent space.

Kosu marveled at the elegance, wondering why such a beautiful bath was kept locked away.Moving on, he approached the next door, which also yielded to the master key.

This room was a wine cellar, and Kosu's eyes widened at the sight before him.

Shelves lined the walls, filled with dozens of bottles of exquisite wine, each labeled with elegant script.

The room was cool and dark, perfect for preserving the Duke's prized collection.

Gold and silver accents adorned the bottles, hinting at their value.

Kosu knew that while this room was a treasure in itself, he had no taste for wine.

"Thorn or Jinpei would love this," he thought, imagining their excitement at discovering such a bounty. With determination, Kosu moved to the third and final door on the first floor.

He inserted the key, and it clicked open.

Inside, he found a gallery filled with paintings from renowned artists, each framed in ornate gold.

The walls were adorned with magnificent patterns, and sculptures stood proudly in the corners.

This must be the treasure room, he realized, a collection of art and history that spoke of the Duke's wealth and taste. As he stepped further inside, he discovered another chamber filled with armor, weapons, and artifacts—rings and necklaces that sparkled under the dim light.

Kosu recognized their potential value but knew better than to don any of them without understanding their effects.

He slipped a few smaller artifacts into his pockets, determined to share the findings with his team later. In the last corner of the treasure room, Kosu noticed a large, imposing door.

This had to be the treasure vault, where the rarest artifacts were kept.

He approached cautiously, feeling a mixture of excitement and trepidation.

Just as he reached for the handle, he accidentally triggered a hidden trap.Suddenly, arrows shot out from the walls, whizzing past him.

"I know it's not easy!"

Kosu shouted, instinctively jumping back.

He unsheathed his katana, slicing through the arrows that came his way.

He managed to nullify the immediate threat, but the presence of traps made him reconsider his next move.

Should he retreat?

No, he thought.

Turning back would take too long.Taking a deep breath, Kosu steeled himself and dashed toward the vault door, carefully avoiding the spots where he suspected the traps were hidden.

Just as he thought he could reach safety, another arrow trap activated, shooting a volley of arrows at him.

Kosu rolled in the air, deftly dodging some while slicing through others with his katana. He then faced a pit trap filled with sharp spears but leaped over it with agility, feeling a rush of adrenaline.

Halfway through, another trap was triggered, and spears descended from the ceiling.

Kosu reacted quickly, slashing through some of the spears to create a narrow escape route, narrowly avoiding the deadly points. As he passed the pit trap, a new danger emerged: poison fog began to seep from the walls, threatening to engulf him.

Knowing he couldn't delay any longer, he concentrated, channeling his aura into his sword.

With all his might, he jumped toward the vault door, slashing through it with a powerful strike. The fog was unable to follow him past the threshold, and Kosu landed inside the vault, panting but victorious.

He had made it through the traps, and now stood on the brink of uncovering what lay hidden within—the potential answers to their quest and perhaps the dungeon core itself.Inside the treasure vault, Kosu was immediately struck by the sheer opulence of the space.

The room was expansive, with walls lined in dark, polished wood that gleamed in the soft light emanating from crystal chandeliers overhead.

The floor was covered in rich, red carpets that muffled his footsteps, adding to the air of secrecy and wealth. As he stepped further inside, he noticed large display cases filled with various artifacts—each one more intricate than the last.

There were ornate swords, their hilts encrusted with gemstones that sparkled like stars against the velvet background.

Armor sets stood proudly in the corners, crafted with exceptional artistry, each piece telling a story of battles fought long ag😵n one side of the room, a table was laden with exquisite jewelry: necklaces of shimmering gold, rings set with deep red rubies and emeralds, and delicate bracelets that glinted in the light.

Kosu's eyes widened at the sight, knowing that these treasures were not just beautiful but could also be powerful. He moved to a large chest adorned with intricate carvings of mythical beasts.

Opening it cautiously, Kosu found it filled with golden coins and precious gems, enough to make any thief's heart race.

The wealth was staggering, but Kosu's focus remained on the mission at hand.In another corner, he spotted a collection of scrolls and tomes, their spines cracked with age.

Kosu examined them closely, recognizing some as historical accounts of the Duke's lineage and others as records of magical spells and rituals.

He carefully set a few of the scrolls aside, knowing they could provide valuable insight for the team. However, as he continued to search the vault, Kosu felt a growing sense of disappointment.

There were no signs of the dungeon core here—no artifacts that radiated dark energy or hinted at the core's presence.

He rifled through the relics, hoping to find a clue, but all he found were remnants of the Duke's opulence and power.Determined not to leave empty-handed, Kosu pocketed a few smaller artifacts, including a beautifully crafted dagger with intricate engravings and a ring that seemed to pulse with a faint warmth.

He knew that these items could aid him and his teammates in their quest, even if they were not the core itself. With a final glance around the treasure vault, Kosu took a deep breath, steeling himself for the next phase of their mission.

The vault was a treasure trove of history and wealth, but it was not what they were searching for.

He would have to regroup with the others and share what he had found, as well as his disappointing discovery that the dungeon core was not among these riches.Kosu took a deep breath, his heart heavy as he activated the communication device.

"Team, this is Kosu.

I regret to inform you that the dungeon core isn't in the treasure room.

I did manage to collect a few artifacts, but..."

His voice trailed off, disappointment evident.Thorn's voice came through, steady and reassuring.

"Kosu, you did a great job.

Finding those artifacts is still valuable.

We'll put them to good use."

Riku then chimed in, her tone brightening the mood.

"I've reached the center of the maze.

There was a large artifact there acting as a guardian mechanism for the manor, but I've turned it off to make moving easier.

Unfortunately, the core isn't in the maze either."

The team quickly pieced it together.

"It must be in the ritual chamber," Kosu suggested, hope flickering back to life.Jenna's voice cut in, curious and focused.

"Thorn, have you and Miko found that ritual chamber yet?"

Thorn replied, "Not yet.

We're still working on solving the puzzle in the underground rooms.

It's proving to be quite tricky."

"We need to regroup in the underground room," Thorn concluded.

"That's the last location where the dungeon core might be."

Everyone agreed, a sense of urgency propelling them forward.

Kosu felt a renewed determination surge within him.

"I'm on my way to the underground room now," he stated, his voice firm.Without hesitation, he sprinted out of the treasure vault and back through the corridor, the weight of the artifacts in his pockets a reminder of their mission.

He navigated through the manor with purpose, each step bringing him closer to the team—and hopefully closer to uncovering the truth about the dungeon core.

The air was thick with anticipation as he raced toward the underground, ready to face whatever challenges awaited them.
